Coping with the Changing Coronavirus (COVID-19) Situation @ In Out Parcel

Non essential border crossing activities such as parcel pickup has shut down since Mar 21, 2020. The Government of Canada has put in place emergency measures that require mandatory 14-day self-isolation for all persons entering/returning to Canada, even if they do not have COVID-19 symptoms. There is no indication that the Federal government have a timeline to open up border crossing for non-essential border crossing anytime soon.
In the mean time, we are still operational, accepting all incoming packages. We do parcel forwarding service with UPS and USPS. UPS takes 2 to 5 days, while USPS takes 2 to 3 weeks for delivery.
We are committed to provide reliable service and access to our facility while ensuring the health and safety of our team members and clients.
Our Contingency Plan:
- Service counter closure – Please contact us via emails only
Staff assisted service counter pickup will cease starting Friday Mar. 20. All customers must interact through the self-serve computer pickup terminals. Our staff will not be able to physically serve any clients, please do not approach to ask for assistance as they will only be tasked with processing and filing packages into lockers. The service counter will be closed. Customers must email us if they want to use the Big Locker for after hours pickup. We will still be staffed to receive packages from UPS/FedEx and USPS.

- Weekly Parcel Storage Fees Changes to Monthly Billing Fee
All packages arriving before March 31 will be assessed monthly storage fees starting May 1 (instead of a weekly storage fee) until the border service resumes. The monthly storage fee is the same cost as the initial filing fee for the package. All packages that arrives on or after Apr 1 will be assessed monthly storage fees every 30 days, starting on May 1. This is a difficult decision we had to make as we need to balance the difficulties of keeping the company staffed and operational. The above pricing structure would entails that, on a monthly basis, we are just charging 25% of our usual storage fee.
- We provide parcel forwarding service to forward package to Canada
Should you require this service, just reply to the package ready email we sent you and reply with: goods description and declared value, full shipping address. We can then send you a shipping quote with UPS and USPS. UPS takes 2 to 5 days, while USPS takes 2 to 3 weeks for delivery.
- We can refuse the package and return to sender for you at no charge
During this time, if you no longer want the package, just let us know and we can return it to the sender. Our system is configured to not refund the fees, so the fees are refunded manually when we refuse it by our staff. If for some reasons you did not get refunded after the package refusal, please let us know and we can do the manual adjustment.
- Your package will be accepted and kept on site for 80 days
We hold packages indefinitely as long as there is a positive balance in the account. We will only dispose a package if it’s been over 80 days and your account owes more than $50.
- Cleaning and sanitation will increase.
Major touch points such as door knobs, handles, pickup terminal screens, box cutting knifes gets disinfected on a daily basis, and we will increase the frequency of sanitizing these items.
- Sanitizing gels
Three auto sanitizing gel dispensers are now in operation for customers to use.
- Social distancing
The CDC defines social distancing as it applies to COVID-19 as “remaining out of congregrate settings, avoiding mass gatherings, and maintaining distance (approximately 6 feet or 2 meters) from others when possible.” With In Out Parcel, there will be minimal congestion at the pickup terminals, especially at odd hours.
- Inspection table
We encourage one customer per table and to keep social distance.
