Collecting a package at In Out Parcel takes about a minute — no counter, no lineup, any hour of the day. Here’s exactly how it works, from the email we send you to the locker popping open.
When Your Package Is Ready
We log and locker most packages by around 3:00 PM on the day they’re delivered. As soon as yours is filed, we email you an arrival notice that includes everything you need:
- The tracking number
- Your 6-digit PIN
- The locker location (and which terminal to use)
- The cost for that package and your current balance
If it’s past 3:00 PM and you haven’t seen an email, check your spam folder first (safelist our emails so it doesn’t recur), then file a trace request — it asks for the tracking number, carrier, and your receipt up front so we can track it down without emailing back and forth. Packages that arrive without a Customer ID on the label can take an extra business day to match to your account. More troubleshooting: I didn’t get an arrival email.
Picking Up, Step by Step
- Step inside. Come right in and head for the terminals. Your packages stay locked in your own locker until you enter your PIN, so only you can collect them.
- Go to your terminal. There are three: RED on the left, BLUE in the middle, and GREEN on the right. Use the one named in your arrival email and enter your 6-digit PIN. If you owe a balance, you can pay by card right at the terminal.
- Collect your parcel. Your locker opens automatically. Your PIN stays valid for 10 minutes after first use, so grab everything assigned to it before you head out.
- Get your confirmation. A pickup-confirmation email arrives within 5–10 minutes, and your full package and PIN history always lives in your online account.
Oversize Items
Anything too large for a locker goes straight to our staffed shelf instead. You’ll get an email letting you know it’s waiting, and you pick it up at the counter during staffed hours. Storage works the same as for lockered packages: your receiving fee covers the first 14 days, then storage renews weekly.
Can Someone Else Pick Up for Me?
Yes. You have two options:
- Share your 6-digit PIN — as long as your balance is zero or positive, anyone with the PIN can open that locker.
- Add authorized users — you can add up to 3 authorized users to your account in the portal.

One-Time Step: Verify Your Account
To keep using the 24/7 self-serve lockers, you’ll need to complete USPS Form 1583 — it’s a postal requirement for every mailbox. You’re welcome to collect your very first package while you get set up, but verification is required to continue after that. It only takes a few minutes, in person or online, and once you’re verified you have full self-serve pickup for good. See how verification works.
