Letter Mail

How to Set Up Letter Mail

Turn on letter mail in the portal: hold for pickup ($4.25) or open-and-scan to PDF ($4.25 + $2.50) per letter. Junk mail is filtered out free.

Your In Out Parcel address accepts First-Class letter mail (without tracking) as well as packages — bank statements, government mail, cheques, gift cards, correspondence. Letter mail is opt-in: you turn it on in the portal and tell us what to do with each letter that arrives.

Choose Your Handling Preference

Go to Account → Letter Handling and pick one:

  • Do Not Accept — letter mail is returned to sender or discarded. (The default until you opt in.)
  • Hold for Counter Pickup — $4.25 per letter — we hold your letters at the service counter for pickup during staffed hours. Want it in a locker for 24/7 pickup instead? Moving it to a locker is free on request.
  • Open & Scan — $4.25 + $2.50 per letter — we open the letter, scan it to PDF, and post it to your Letter Box in the portal, so you can read it from anywhere within hours of it arriving.

Your choice applies to each new letter as it arrives, and you can change it anytime.

What About Junk Mail?

Magazines, catalogs, flyers, and junk mail are filtered out and disposed of free — you’re never charged for mail you didn’t want.

Want a Letter Physically Mailed on to You?

Letter forwarding isn’t an automatic preference — it’s a per-letter request. Open a shipping request from My Shipments (or straight from the letter in your Letter Box) and we’ll quote sending it anywhere in the world.

Good to Know

  • Letter mail requires a verified account — it’s part of the same USPS Form 1583 rule as packages.
  • Every letter, like every package, appears in your portal with an email notification when it arrives.
